Xenia brings together women from all nationalities and backgrounds for intercultural workshops that support English language learning and social integration. Our workshops are open to all migrant, refugee, asylum-seeking and British women - regardless of immigration status, or level of English (including fluent!)
The themes of each session range from women’s rights to family histories, recipe sharing to employment, theatre workshops to nature education. Childcare is provided at every workshop and travel expenses are reimbursed for those who need it.
Our workshops are a great opportunity for women learning English to practice speaking and listening in English with native speakers, but are not formal English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes. If you are looking for local ESOL classes, please check your local adult education service website.
Normally, we run workshops every Saturday from 10am – 1pm at Hackney Museum, and all women and children are welcome. Click here for more details on how we're running sessions during the coronavirus pandemic.
When we're meeting in person again, you can register for a future workshop on our Eventbrite page or just come along any Saturday.
Come to Xenia if you want to:
All women are welcome!
Normally, we meet every Saturday from 10am – 1pm at Hackney Museum. But during the coronavirus pandemic, we are running virtual sessions - this means you can join online or by phone.
If you would like to join one of our virtual workshops, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us on 07835 277 776 and we will provide you with more information about joining Xenia remotely.
If you'd like to participate in a workshop with us, scroll up to see how! All women who attend Xenia sessions are participants, whether you speak fluent English or are a new learner.
At Xenia, we have been adapting fast to a changing world - and we couldn't do it without the support of generous people willing to lend their skills to support the women in our community.
Right now, you might have some more time on your hands or perhaps have a particular skill to give. We'd love to hear from you if you think there's some way you could help - in particular we are looking for the skills below. Please tell us how you'd like to help in your message, so we can pick up your skills faster!
